One shot and another disappeared in A'pura district election violence

One supporter of United National Party (UNP) Chief Minister candidate Major General Janaka Perera was hospitalized with serious gun shot injuries as a gang of goons shot at the vehicle the victim was travelling with other supporters. Another youth who was in the vehicle was disappeared. The firing took place around 1.30 AM today (09) close to the New Bus Stand of Anuradhapura. A spokesman of Anuradhapura hospital said that the victim Sampath Jayasinghe (18) was undergone a surgery today (09). A police spokesman said that the disappeared person was believed to be taken away by the goons.
The survivors said that the two vehicles that were engaged in the attack, a green color vehicle and a white Defender, collided at the scene of crime. They say that a back up vehicle of a VIP security squad passed the scene a moment later.
